How long does it take to fit a wheel-clamp ?

The vast majority of our clamps can be fitted (and removed) within 20 to 30 seconds. Maybe the first time you handle a wheel-clamp it might take you two minutes. Already the second time you fit it you will manage it within seconds.

How heavy is a wheel-clamp ?

An average wheel clamp has around 8 - 10 kg, a weight that well combines security aspects with ease to handle and transport of the wheel-clamp.
Heavier models that are especially suited to protect cars weigh up to 18 kg due to heavy steel components; this massiveness makes it extremely hard for potential car thieves. For private customers and camping purposes we offer light clamps of around 5 kg.

Nothing is absolutely safe ! What does it take to break open a wheel-clamp ?

Nothing is totally safe. Even wheel-clamps can be opened violently - but it takes very heavy tools. One can't open a professional wheel-clamp with a jemmy or a gripper. It takes a welding apparatus to open a wheel-clamp and even then it is not so easy and quick to open. The time to weld open a wheel-clamp is maybe twenty minutes or more and it makes quite some noise... And by the way, even well-equipped car thieves don't carry a welding apparatus with them.

What is more important the tyre width or the wheel diameter to find the suitable wheel-clamp for me ?

Well, of course , both is relevant, but the tyre width is more important because many wheel-clamps have limitations with the tyre width and not with the total wheel diameter. The vast majority of wheel-clamps works fine with diameters of up to 60 cm - that's roughly 24 inches (n.b.: that's not the rim size, but the total wheel diameter) - and above. So that is big enough for almost any car wheel and there shouldn't be a problem with the diameter.

For standard wheel-clamps the tyre width can be up to 205mm (8 inches) or even up to 230 mm (9 inches) . Professional wheel-clamps offer the possibility to adjust the width first and then fit the clamp onto the wheel. Therefore a pro wheel-clamp is elaborated better and is more costly, but it fits to wider tyres. A professional wheel-clamp will fit tyre widths of up to 260mm (10 1/2 inches) and more.
